the Artist
Ramesh Terdal (Ph.D) Contemporary Visual Artist -Works between Bangalore and Budapest
"Contemporary Visual Artist based in Bangalore, India, working between Bangalore and Budapest. He is frequently invited to Europe for international art shows, symposiums and workshops. His work explores human emotions, nature and cultural memory through deeply textured, emotive canvases."
His paintings are built from saturated colour and heavily worked surfaces, where animal and human figures seem to surface out of layered texture, movement, and energy. Each canvas is an emotional landscape — raw, vibrant, and deeply intuitive.
Alongside his canvases, he is a master of charcoal portraiture, ranging from quiet, intimate studies to commissioned likenesses. A true global painter, he often paints in front of live audiences, holding sessions outdoors and in galleries.
His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across India and on international platforms, including Russia and European countries. He has successfully organised the Art Bridge Projects in Hungary several times. He was honoured as an Ambassador of Art, Global Artist, and Guest Artist of the Year under the Duna-Ganges Art Exhibitions in Hungary.
Art camps, symposiums and cultural exchanges abroad, where Ramesh paints, teaches and works side by side with artists from other countries.

Signature Works
A selection of his most powerful paintings and charcoal works.
Sometimes I say to myself - Thank God, the cruel tiger doesn't have wings. If it had wings, what would happen?
>
> The tiger is nature's most perfect predator - beautiful, powerful, and merciless. On the ground, it has limits. But if it could also rule the sky, there would be no escape, no balance left in the forest.
>
> In this painting, I gave the tiger wings made of texture, memory and time - abstract, dissolving, heavy with history. The body is grounded but the wings are dreamlike, fragmented. It is a mythical creature of my imagination.
>
> The intense orange-red background is the fire of power and cruelty. The tiger stands in pride, looking upwards, as if questioning its own destiny.
The concept is about nature's wisdom. God in his creation has distributed power with balance. He gave strength to one, flight to another. If all power was given to one cruel being, creation itself would collapse. This work is a prayer of gratitude for that balance.
Charging Bull 10, explores primal strength and forward momentum. Rendered in black against a field of red, the bull embodies endurance and dharma - moving not in aggression, but in undeniable presence.
The bull is pure, raw energy - unfiltered, unstoppable. Captured mid-charge, its body is rendered in deep black and charcoal, muscles tense, dust rising from hooves.
The background is an intense, almost violent red - the color of life, of rage, of sacrifice. The ground is left white and empty, to isolate the bull in its own moment of power.
Unlike the Ashva which was about trust, this Bull is about assertion. No companions, no softness. Just the self, moving forward.
In Indian context, the bull is Nandi - strength, endurance, dharma. But here he is not waiting before Shiva. He is charging on his own.
The single thin golden diagonal line in the sky is intentional - a break, a light, a direction. Even in raw power, there is a path.
The dog is not standing, not sitting - it is in mid-leap. A state of pure, unfiltered happiness. The body is fragmented with textures of yellow, ochre and earthy reds - like memories collected from streets, snow, and human kindness.
The background is a soft, luminous yellow-green - the color of hope and spring, even in cold Russia. The splashes under its paws are not dirt, but the energy of the leap itself.
In many cultures the dog is loyalty. Here, it is joy. A reminder that happiness is not a destination, it is a jump - weightless, momentary, and completely alive.
The Mesmerizing Movement
Created in 2024, after my travel to Dubai.
Standing before the giant aquarium in Dubai Mall, I was mesmerized - not by the size of the tank, but by the silent, collective dance of the fish. Hundreds of beings moving as one mind, one flow.
The fish are not painted solid - they are dissolving and appearing through layers of blue, gold and rust. Like memories under water. The intense Dubai blue becomes the infinite - both confining and liberating.
The work is about abundance, coexistence and silent communication. In that aquarium in the middle of a desert mall, life thrives. It reminded me that movement is meditation.

Terdal’s abstract art on show
The paper covered Expression, his solo show at Art Houz, Vasanthnagar, Bengaluru, describing him as a native of Gadag in northern Karnataka who has carved a niche as an artist of abstractions with vivid canvases. It also reported that he received a global artist award in Hungary in 2016.
“They are abstract in appearance with forms of animals, birds, aquatic figures like fish, and humans. They are mystical in appearance, and travel from the surrealistic world of backgrounds.”
